Athens Video Art Festival 2010
The 6th edition of International festival of digital arts and new media “Athens Video Art Festival”, in the frame of its tour in Greek region, with the collaboration of Greek General Secretariat of Youth, will be presented for the first time in Crete and the city of Rethymno.
It is the biggest festival of digital arts and new media in Greece, representing our country worldwide and being supported by more than 7200 artists from 50 different countries from all over the world. Its presentation in the context of local cultural festivities for the summer of 2010 attempts to designate, develop and expand contemporary civilization, as well as to promote the communication between digital arts away from the urban centers.
The public of Rethymno will have the opportunity to view spectacular screenings of video art, animation as well as exhibitions of video installations and digital images. In an attempt to underline issues of ecological and social sensitivity, it will be displayed this year’s thematical chapter “Feel Free to Feel Green” that included eco sensitive art works of all its categories, concerning the relation between the modern human and the nature.

PARALLEL ACTIVITIES
Workshop
In the context of the most possible development of the dynamics, as well as the educational character of the festival and its content, there will be the opportunity of a workshop (animation) that students of elementary school (aged from 7 to 9 years old) will be participate in creating their own very first animation.
Students of Rethymno will “take a trip” with experienced animators through the basic vaulting point of the creation of a sketch to the composition of motion.
Call for entries
Additionally in the context of the organization, including elements of the local community, native submissions of all categories will be embodied to the main program of International Festival of Digital Arts and New Media “Athens Video Art Festival 2010”.
By realizing a local call for entries the Cretan public will have the opportunity to participate in this festivity of digital civilization by submitting their works for the following categories: Video Art, Animation and Digital Image.
